In October, we faced one of the greatest losses of our lives—the passing of our beloved father, Dominique Lyone, who was also the visionary Founder and Chairman of COS. As we write this, it’s difficult to put into words just how much Dad meant to us, our family, and the business he built with unwavering determination and passion.
Dad’s story began when he arrived in Australia as a young refugee from Egypt, full of hope and drive. With little more than a dream, he founded COS in 1977, growing it over the past 45 years into Australia’s largest family-owned office and education supplies business. His entrepreneurial brilliance was matched only by his charisma and energy, which inspired countless people to believe in themselves and strive for more.
For us, as his daughters, Dad was more than a mentor—he was our guiding light. We had the privilege of working alongside him for 20 years, learning from his wisdom, his resilience, and his deep belief in the power of people. Four years ago, when he passed the reins of COS to us as Co-CEOs, he became our biggest supporter, cheering us on as we carried forward his vision of helping Australians stay healthy, safe, and productive.
Dad’s legacy extends far beyond the walls of COS. His passion for giving back was unparalleled, and through the Lyone Foundation, he helped hundreds of Aussie charities thrive. His generosity and compassion will live on in the work we do every day, ensuring that his spirit of giving back continues to impact lives across the country.
While we miss him beyond words, we know Dad’s spirit will always be with us—guiding, inspiring, and reminding us of the incredible privilege and responsibility we have to carry on his legacy. We are so grateful for the outpouring of support and tributes we’ve received. They’ve reminded us of the extraordinary impact Dad had on everyone who was lucky enough to know him.
Thank you, Dad, for everything. We’ll carry your dream forward, always.
