Australia really is a cracker of a country, with its beautiful beaches, stunning landmarks and our favourite vegemite on toast, we really are the “Lucky Country”!
It’s easy to see why we’re such a proud bunch. We certainly have a lot to be proud of and one of the best ways to show this is to buy Australian made.
Buying Australian-made strengthens the economy, and as an Australian business, COS is loud and proud about working with innovative Australian companies. We take pride in promoting and supporting other Australian-owned businesses, including Indigenous suppliers. We want future generations to enjoy the benefits of Australian-made for years to come.
In celebration of Australia Day we’d like to take a look at some of our favourite Australian brands and products.
Arnott’s Biscuits
Who doesn’t love a Tim Tam with their afternoon cuppa? Arnott’s started as a tiny bakery in Newcastle, NSW in 1865. They baked bread, pies and biscuits and supplied them to the locals and crews of the many coal ships docked at the port. From these humble beginnings Arnott’s grew in to the huge company we all know and love today. Although they’re now technically owned by USA Campbell Soup Company, they still employ around 2,400 Australians. They are also committed to purchasing Australian produce and services, helping to fuel the economy of regional Australia.
Muru Office Supplies
COS is proud to partner with Muru Office Supplies, a majority First Nations owned company. Muru means “pathway” in the First Nations language of the coastal Sydney region, and Muru Office Supplies are dedicated to creating a pathway for future generations of First Nations peoples.
15% of profits generated from sales of the Muru Office Products Range directly contribute to community projects and initiatives.
CAPI
Born and bred in Melbourne, CAPI is a 100% Australian-owned company that makes sparkling water, fruit sodas and mixers. CAPI sources and blends the best natural ingredients and sources its award-winning water from just 50 minutes outside of Melbourne. You don’t get much more “locally-sourced” than that!
Jasol Hygiene First
Back in 1934, Mr. Charles Johnson began production of his first cleaning product in his home in Adelaide. Originally this clever chemist wanted to call his company ‘Johnson’s Antiseptic Soluble Oils Ltd” but, realising this was a terrible tongue twister, settled for the abbreviation ‘Jasol’. Today, ‘Jasol Hygiene First’ manufactures a huge range of exceptional cleaning and hygiene service solutions.
Oates
From its inception as a broom factory in North Melbourne before WWI, Oates is now a leading cleaning tools supplier with more than 1,900 innovative products. Many of these are designed right here in Australia, where Oates is a household name for cleaning products.
Vegemite
This list wouldn’t be complete without Vegemite. Every Aussie kid grows up on the stuff and when we travel, we take it with us, we ship it to our friends overseas and we hoard it in our drawers at work. It is THE Australian staple. The great news is that it is now not only Australian made, it is once again, Australian owned!! Hooray for Vegemite!
Lyone Foundation
COS is proud to be an Australian-owned company and is passionate about giving back to this great land through the Lyone Foundation. Each year, over $1 million of COS profits are shared with the wider community, making a difference to the lives of everyday Australians.
While supporting Australian businesses generates new jobs and opportunities, it can also have a greater impact. By buying from Australian companies you are encouraging innovation and investment all around this great country. That is something we can all be proud of.
