How often do you clean your devices, your phone, tablet, or laptop? It might surprise you to know that experts recommend you should clean your mobile at least once per day!
A study from web research platform Dscout has found that the average person touches their phone nearly 3,000 times a day, effectively carrying bacteria, germs and diseases around in their pocket all day long. According to scientists at the University of Arizona, your phone has more bacteria on it than a toilet seat! Ten times the amount, to be exact! No thanks.
It’s important to remember that any sort of moisture can seriously mess with the function of your devices, especially your phone. Apple recommends that you avoid using spray cleaners, or any kind of heavy duty products like bleach, or aerosol sprays.
Here is a quick guide on how to clean your devices properly, without damaging them.
- Remove casing
- Unplug and switch off
- Gently wipe the outside using a dry microfiber cloth. Microfiber traps more dirt and bacteria than paper towels
- Then spray a disinfecting solution (like equal parts 99% isopropyl alcohol and water) onto microfiber cloth and wipe over the device
- You could also invest in specialised device cleaning wipes
- Leave your device for 5 minutes to dry
- Use a clean microfiber towel to dry
- Wash your hands once you’re done
