Danger
THIS COULD KILL YOU!
For when you need to alert people to a particular hazard, or hazardous condition that is likely to be life-threatening. These signs must include the word ‘DANGER’ in big, bold white letters, on a red oval inside a black background.
Mandatory
MUST DO
Indicates an instruction that must be carried out. The word “MUST” is usually incorporated and includes a white symbol within a blue circle. Most often seen when safety equipment is to be worn in a specific area.
Prohibition
DON’T DO
Indicates that something is not permitted. These signs feature a white background with a red circle with a line through it. Examples include Do Not Enter, No Smoking, etc.
First Aid & Emergency
IF SOMETHING’S GONE WRONG
If something goes wrong, these signs help direct people to the whereabouts of emergency facilities including safety equipment, first aid, or emergency exits. These signs must include a white symbol or words (or both) on a green rectangular sign.
Warning
THIS COULD HURT YOU!
If you need to warn of a hazard or hazardous condition that while not life threatening, could still hurt someone. These signs are identified by the yellow background and big black exclamation mark.

These bright red signs indicate the location of your fire equipment like extinguishers, blankets, hoses etc. All text is white to stand out against the red background.
